It also neutralizes the ph of new concrete. Then mix 3 or 4 parts water with 1 part muriatic or hydrochloric acid in a plastic bucket. Don t skip this step if you want a long lasting painted concrete floor. If the acid etch mixture is not properly mixed at a 10 solution the solution will be to weak to properly remove concrete latencies or it may be too strong and etch the surface deeper than necessary and soak into the concrete surface and contaminate it with a destructive lingering acidity after floor materials are applied.

Power wash concrete and make sure it is free from dirt dust and debris. The concrete etching solution should be spread on a small area of the floor with a long handled brush. They are used to abrade the surface. After 20 minutes the solution needs to be rinsed off the floor and allowed to dry.

Etching solutions do not clean the concrete. Clean n etch is biodegradable and safe to use near grass and plants. The floor should be examined carefully afterward and if the texture still appears smooth the process needs to be repeated until the floor has a sandpaper like quality to it. Use a sprayer or watering can to evenly distribute that acid and let it sit for 2 15 minutes or until it stops bubbling.

Use a small stiff brush or paintbrush to get into the corners where. Remove oil stains using a powerful degreaser such as seal krete oil stain remover. Paint will not stick to oily concrete so be sure that any grease and oil stains are cleaned as thoroughly as possible.
