I started a new game when the 0 17 beta released with the intention of knocking out some of the achievements.
It takes 23 8 solar panels to operate 1 mw of factory and charge 20 accumulators to sustain that 1 mw through the night.
There is an achievement you cannot build any solar panels but i remember before you launch your rocket you need to insert a satellite and that satellite require like 100 solar panels wondering how to get that done.

I m relatively new to the game but have been enjoying it immensely.
During the day excess power generated is stored in accumulators during the night accumulators release their charge to power your factory.

It doesn t say on steam using just solar panels and just says without using steam engines but thank you for that amount.

I ve dismantled steam engines completely to ensure they aren t powering anything.
I would assume that power generated by steam turbines does not count as power generated by solar panels.
So today i realized i messed up.
Has to be just upped my solar panel game and went to 10 000 solar panels and no achievement.
The optimal ratio is 0 84 21 25 accumulators per solar panel and 23 8 solar panels per megawatt required by your factory this ratio accounts for solar panels needed to charge the accumulators.
Solar panels only provide energy during the day.
