Framing Wall To Concrete Floor

In this video i show you the method that i use to attach basement framing to a concrete floor.

Repeat at the other end of the board. Use these time stamps to ju. I use tapcon concrete screws to secure the wood to the floor. Use a hammer drill with 3 16 masonry bit to drill a hole through the wood and into the concrete floor.

Step 2 insert a masonry bit that is 5 8 inch in diameter and at least 12 inches long into a hammer drill. Walls are built from the ground up. This is much easier than building the wall frame in place vertically against the wall. A raised floor is constructed with a wooden framework that bridges from one exterior wall to another.

Attaching your wall framing to the concrete floor is a necessary part of the process after building a brand new framed wall. This framework may or may not be supported intermediately by girders beams or walls. With the baseplate secure to the concrete floor i ve got a good base to attach my wall frame to. And the vertical studs can t go all the way from the floor to joist. In this section i ve cleared out some space on my garage floor.

On upper levels of a house the underside of the floor framing generally serves to back ceiling materials. Subtract 3 1 4 inches to find the stud length needed. While you can hire a pro contractor to do this it is easy to do it on your own as well. This allows for the thickness of both plates actually 1.

Use an impact driver to drive a 3 tapcon screw through the wood and into the floor. Some concrete nails are the cut nail design shown in the photo with a thick flat shank and a tapering v profile. Other nails have a thick shank that sometimes has spiral ridges for improved holding power. Choose a length that will penetrate the concrete at least 1 inch.

Measure from the floor to the ceiling in at least three spots in the wall location. Stand the wood frame wall up on the concrete foundation in the spot where it will be anchored. When you have a window on the concrete wall you will have to build a frame around the window.
